Vipers Make up game

Big Stick,

Very nicely played tonight. The baserunning, attention span and overall defense continues to be pretty good. We need to make sure balls are not getting by the outfielders. Those are killers. Also, we need to make sure to make the routine play on the infield. Overall I am very happy. I felt the bats were off a little tonight. Yes, we scored 28, but looking at the scorecard the other team made a lot of errors. We had a lot of pop flys too. Granted we had some great at bats, and a couple players in particular excelled tonight vs their opening game performance. We had great production from the lead off spot as that player scored 5 times. That is a good sign. I felt our edge was off a little tonight. But that is what comes with playing an inferior opponent. We need to play better as a team, and we will.

Again, great effort, good attention span, very focused and pretty good baserunning. Good defense and hitting in spots. We need more consistency at the plate and in the field across our 13 player team. We are only as good 1-13 as 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13 will make us.

See everyone on Saturday! Try and arrive at 1:00 PM. I will let everyone know where the game is when I find out.

Saturday's Game 1:30 PM

Our game Saturday will be at 1:30 PM against the Falcons. I'm not sure yet what field. Will know for sure soon. Again, 1:30 PM Saturday against the Falcons.

Morning Star Church - Easter Service 4:45 PM Saturday

If anyone is interested in joining Teri and I for Easter Service please let us know. We go to Morning Star Church which is off of Feise Road, right next to Prairie View Elementary. They have 6 services this weekend. We will be attending the 4:45 PM Saturday service. Other families that also attend this wonderful church are the Cogles' and Haynes'. Just let me know if you are interested and Teri, Trinity, Tyson, Trace and I will meet you in the parking lot at 4:30 PM.
We would be honored to have you. Maybe dinner after?

Baseball Gloves

If anyone is in the market for a new baseball glove I have a recommendation. Mizuno has these gloves with the "Power Close" technology that is perfect for younger players. One of the frustrating things about buying a new glove is the time it takes to break in, but the Mizuno Power Close gloves are very easy for the younger player to open and close. I bought one for Trace and he loves it. You can get these at Sports Authority.

As for size of glove, this comes down to preference. My recommendation is to get at least a 10.5 inch to a 11.5 inch. The younger player with a bigger margin of error is a more consistent player. Some of the bigger kids can handle the bigger glove. The smaller players could get a way with a smaller glove. As an example, Tyson has a 11.5 and loves it. Trace has an 11.5 too, but in hindsight I could have gotten him the 11 inch instead, just due to his size. There are advantages to smaller gloves in the infield as the kids get older, but I truly believe having a larger glove builds greater confidence in the kids, especially catching a thrown ball or catching a line drive/fly ball. I'd think hard about an 11 inch - 11.5 inch glove. One he can grow with.

For those golfers out there, think of a glove to your boy like your putter to you. Its nice to pick out your own, feel comfortable with it and build confidence with it....just before you missed that 2 footer that cost you $10 on the skin and then turning around and throwing it into the lake!!!!
